Hypoallergenic dog wipes: what to check beyond the word
If you want one sensitive-skin wipe, start with Earthbath's hypoallergenic wipe. The maker publishes the full ingredient list, says it is fragrance-free and alcohol-free, and states a 6-week minimum age. Earth Rated Unscented is the only other wipe here that shows all four on its own page, with an 8-week age. For the shortest label, pick Pogi's.

Not veterinary advice. This page has not been reviewed by a veterinarian; it summarizes published veterinary sources, linked in the text. If your pet has a skin problem, a wound, or symptoms that do not clear up, talk to your vet.
"Hypoallergenic" on a dog wipe tells you what the maker believes. It does not tell you what a regulator or a test confirmed. The FDA says no federal standards or definitions govern the term for cosmetics, and companies don't have to submit evidence for it. That page covers human cosmetics. We found no stricter rule for pet wipes.
What "hypoallergenic" can and can't tell you
The FDA also says it knows of no scientific studies showing that products labeled hypoallergenic cause fewer allergic reactions than ordinary ones. We apply the same skepticism to pet wipes. The claim shows the maker wanted a gentle product and is no evidence that your dog won't react.
Most skin trouble in dogs has nothing to do with the wipe. Allergies, yeast and bacterial overgrowth often travel together, and VCA's yeast dermatitis page pairs underlying allergy with the yeast problem. A wipe can clean a coat and diagnose neither, so a dog with ongoing itching needs a vet.
Safe wipes for dogs with sensitive skin: four label checks
| Check | Why it matters | Where to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Fragrance-free | "Fragrance" or "parfum" can hide a mix of scent ingredients, possibly essential oils (see fragrance). A no-fragrance claim removes that unknown. | Maker page or ingredient list |
| Alcohol-free | Drying, and the MSD Veterinary Manual covers alcohol toxicosis from ingestion. See alcohol. | Maker statement. Many makers give none. |
| Short ingredient list | Fewer ingredients mean fewer possible triggers and an easier process of elimination. | Published full list, if any |
| Stated minimum age | Matters for puppies. See puppy wipes. | Maker page |
"Unscented" alone isn't enough. We mark a product fragrance-free only when the maker says so or the label lists no fragrance. Details are on how we research. The wider buying checklist, with sheet size and cat flags, is on best wipes for dogs.
Our pick for sensitive skin: Earthbath
The full list reads: deionized water, a soy-protein cleanser, rice extract, vitamin E, avocado and sunflower seed oils, potassium sorbate, chamomile, aloe leaf juice, awapuhi root, ginseng, citric acid and phenoxyethanol. The maker claims no parabens, sulfates, alcohol or synthetic dyes. A dog allergic to soy or to specific plant extracts should skip it. No sheet size is published.
Earthbath
Earthbath Hypo-Allergenic Grooming Wipes (dog)
Best for sensitive-skin dogs needing XL, fragrance-free wipes
Skip if you want an odor-masking scent

The shortest label: Pogi's
Seven ingredients: purified water, aloe vera extract, vitamin E, awapuhi extract, cucumber extract, polysorbate 20 and benzoic acid. The maker states no alcohol and no parabens, and no minimum age. Its sheet is 8 x 9 in. and it comes in tubs of 100 and 400. The Pogi's review has the full data, and Pogi's sits in the table below.
For dog and cat homes: TropiClean
The maker says these wipes are for dogs and cats and are fragrance-free. The list names water, gluconolactone, aloe, chamomile, an unnamed "mild cleanser" and an unnamed preservative. You can't tell which cleanser or preservative from the page. Alcohol status and sheet size aren't published either.
TropiClean
TropiClean Hypoallergenic Pet Wipes, Fragrance Free, 100ct
Best for routine deodorizing wipe-downs with a hypoallergenic, fragrance-free formula
Skip if you avoid botanical extracts like lavender or tea tree
Source: maker page (tropiclean.com), checked 2026-10-15.
Unscented from a bigger brand: Earth Rated
The unscented wipe is fragrance-free per the maker, which prints the full list: water, glycerin, chamomile, aloe, shea butter, phenoxyethanol, polyaminopropyl biguanide, raspberry ketone, cucumber, pomegranate, vitamin E and a few others. It says the wipes are free from alcohol and parabens, and it states an 8-week minimum age. The list is marked subject to change, so check the pack. The lavender version adds lavender oil, and ASPCA lists lavender as toxic to dogs and cats when eaten, so lavender is a poor fit for an allergy-prone dog or a home with a cat. See the Earth Rated review.
Natural wipes: what the claim hides
Natural Dog Company lists aloe vera, witch hazel and decyl glucoside as its starred ingredients. Water, gluconolactone, potassium sorbate and sodium benzoate make up the rest. The maker says the wipes are not medicated. It states neither fragrance status nor alcohol-free, and some witch hazel preparations contain alcohol. That makes it the odd one out in the table below, and a fit only for readers who want a short plant-based list.

"Natural" isn't defined either. We saw Burt's Bees dog wipes described as 98% natural origin on one retailer page and 99.7% on another. We have no readable maker page, so we can't say which is current. That is why Burt's Bees stays out of the cards and sits in the Burt's Bees review. More makers on the same label checks are in dog wipe brands compared. If "natural" is about the wipe itself breaking down, biodegradable dog wipes covers what makers state.
Natural doesn't mean gentle, because essential oils are natural. Our ingredient reference rates tea tree and peppermint oil high-risk for cats, eucalyptus and lavender oil moderate-risk for cats, and tea tree and eucalyptus moderate-risk for dogs.
For skin folds on flat-faced breeds: Squishface
Squishface Wrinkle Wipes are a 7 x 5 in. wipe for wrinkles and tail pockets, per the maker. They are fragrance-free and alcohol-free, and phytosphingosine is the key ingredient. No full ingredient list or pack count is published. They are not medicated, so inflamed folds are a vet question.

- You want a strong deodorizing effect. See deodorizing dog wipes.
- Your dog reacts to a listed ingredient. Compare the full lists above before buying.
- A cat shares the wipes. Read are dog wipes safe for cats.
How the shortlist was built
We shortlisted wipes with a readable maker page and a fragrance-free or sensitive-skin claim, and ranked nothing. Retailer-only products are out of the cards. We have not tested any wipe on any dog, and we use no prices or ratings. Where a maker publishes no value, the tables leave it blank. Sources: the FDA on hypoallergenic cosmetics, VCA on yeast dermatitis and the MSD Veterinary Manual on alcohols. Maker pages checked 2026-10-15.
Frequently asked questions
Are hypoallergenic dog wipes really hypoallergenic?
Not necessarily. The FDA says no federal standards or definitions govern "hypoallergenic" on cosmetics, and we found no stricter rule for pet wipes. Treat the word as the maker's opinion and read the ingredient list.
What are the best dog wipes for sensitive skin?
Look for fragrance-free, alcohol-free and a short ingredient list. Earthbath, Earth Rated and Pogi's all state fragrance-free (Earth Rated for its unscented wipe) and alcohol-free on their own pages. Pogi's has the shortest list, with seven ingredients. Dogs with red, itchy or weepy skin need a vet visit more than a different wipe.
What is the best wipe for a dog with allergies?
No wipe treats an allergy. A gentle wipe can remove residue from the coat or paws, and nothing we found shows it reduces allergic reactions. Persistent itching is a vet problem. Our yeast wipes guide covers the medicated side.
Are unscented dog wipes the same as fragrance-free?
Not always. "Unscented" can mean the smell is masked. "Fragrance-free" means none is added. Look for a maker statement, or an ingredient list without fragrance or parfum.
Are aloe vera wipes safe for dogs?
ASPCA lists the aloe plant as toxic to dogs and cats when eaten. Leaf juice in a wipe is a different exposure, and we found no source giving a safe level. A dog that licks a lot of an aloe wipe is the case to watch. See the ingredient reference.
Are natural dog wipes better for sensitive dogs?
Not by definition. "Natural" is a maker's claim. Plant extracts and essential oils can irritate skin, and some are a concern for cats. Burt's Bees gives different natural-origin figures on different retailer pages, which shows the problem.
