Earth Rated dog wipes: a label review of unscented vs lavender
This is a label review, not a hands-on test: we read the maker's page and ingredient list and did not use the wipes. Earth Rated makes one grooming wipe for dogs, 8 x 8 inches, in unscented, lavender and white tea & basil. Of the two we record, the unscented is the better pick.

Buy it if your dog needs regular paw and body wipe-downs, you want no added fragrance, and a stated minimum age of 8 weeks matters to you.
Pick something else if a cat will be wiped with it, your dog reacts to preservatives such as phenoxyethanol or polyaminopropyl biguanide (both are on the list), or you need a medicated wipe. For a shorter list, look at Pogi's, and see best dog wipes for the wider field.
The data comes from the maker's product page, read on 2026-10-15. The maker says its ingredient list is subject to change.
Unscented or lavender?
Both share the sheet size, the viscose fibers and the 8 week minimum age. The unscented comes in 60, 100 and 400 counts and is sold as a hypoallergenic 3-in-1 grooming wipe. The lavender comes in 100 and 400 and adds lavender oil (lavandula angustifolia), the one ingredient that separates the two on the printed lists. The maker page also shows a white tea and basil scent that adds parfum; we have no record for it, so we leave it out.
The lavender is the weaker pick for any home with a cat. Lavender is on the ASPCA toxic list for dogs and cats, and cats groom off whatever lands on their coat.

What is in them
The maker prints one list for the line. In the order given: aqua, glycerin, chamomile flower extract, aloe leaf extract, shea butter, polyaminopropyl biguanide, phenoxyethanol, ethylhexylglycerin, raspberry ketone, caprylyl glycol, cucumber fruit extract, pomegranate extract, tocopheryl acetate, citric acid, sodium citrate, sodium bicarbonate and decyl glucoside. The lavender version adds lavender oil. The maker also says the wipes are free from alcohol and parabens.
- Water and glycerin lead, the base of most wipe liquids.
- Chamomile flower extract: the ASPCA lists chamomile as toxic to dogs and cats when the plant is eaten, with contact dermatitis possible. The amount in a wipe extract is unknown, and the species ASPCA lists may not match the one in wipes.
- Aloe vera leaf extract: also on the ASPCA toxic-plant list, for the whole plant. Wipe-grade extracts are processed and used at low levels, but no source we found sets a safe level. Dogs that lick their paws after a wipe are the case to think about.
- Shea butter, cucumber fruit extract, pomegranate extract and tocopheryl acetate (vitamin E) condition the skin.
- Preservation rests on polyaminopropyl biguanide, Phenoxyethanol, ethylhexylglycerin and caprylyl glycol, with citric acid and sodium citrate adjusting the pH. We found no veterinary toxicity source on phenoxyethanol at wipe levels, and for cats the evidence is unsettled.
- Decyl glucoside is the cleanser, one of the coconut-derived surfactants. Sodium bicarbonate is baking soda.
- Lavender oil, in the lavender version only: ASPCA lists it as toxic to dogs and cats (nausea and vomiting if eaten). The sources we found give no level at which a scented wipe becomes a problem.
Check the pack, since formulas change. For how to read a list like this, see what's in pet wipes.
Sheet size, counts and material
The maker states 8 x 8 inch sheets of viscose fibers derived from wood pulp, without giving a weight. We haven't handled the product, so we can't say how thick it feels or whether it tears on a muddy paw.
The 60-count XL is the only unscented size that lets you try the wipe without buying a tub. The 400 count suits multi-dog homes and daily walkers. Packs change, so check the one you buy.
Eco claims
The maker states plant-derived fibers and holds a Leaping Bunny certification, and the two say different things. Wood-pulp viscose tells you where the fiber comes from, not how fast it breaks down, and the maker says not to flush. Leaping Bunny is a cruelty-free program about animal testing, not environmental impact or skin safety. Compostable and USDA Biobased claims show up only on retailer listings, so we don't repeat them. If landfill impact decides your purchase, a named certification on the pack tells you more than "plant-based."
Cats
The maker's wording is formulated for dogs, many cat owners use them, consult a vet if your cat has specific sensitivities. That is a dog product with a shrug at cat use, not a cat-safe label claim, and the lavender version adds an oil that ASPCA lists as toxic to cats. If you want a wipe labeled for cats, start with best cat wipes.
Alternatives
Pogi's publishes a short seven-item list on its page; we put the two side by side in Earth Rated vs Pogi's. Earthbath also publishes a full list and states a made-in-USA claim. Petkin's thick-sheet wipe lists both dogs and cats in our data, though the maker page gives no sheet size. More brands sit side by side in dog wipe brands compared.

Gaps in the record
The made-in country, which the maker page doesn't state, and the white tea & basil list. The maker also doesn't name the body behind its hypoallergenic and dermatologist-tested claims. We can't speak to thickness, tear strength or moisture after opening, which need hands-on testing.
If a wipe causes redness, itching or swelling, stop using it and ask your vet.
Frequently asked questions
Are Earth Rated dog wipes safe for cats?
The maker says they are formulated for dogs, that many cat owners use them, and that you should consult a vet if your cat has specific sensitivities. That is not a cat-safe label claim. Our general answer is in are dog wipes safe for cats, and the lavender version adds a concern of its own for cats.
Are Earth Rated unscented wipes really fragrance free?
We record the unscented wipe as fragrance free. The maker page prints a full ingredient list with no fragrance and no essential oil for the unscented version. The maker says the list is subject to change, so check the pack.
Are Earth Rated dog wipes alcohol free?
The maker page says the wipes are free from alcohol and parabens, and no alcohol appears in the ingredient list it prints.
Are Earth Rated dog wipes biodegradable or compostable?
The maker page describes viscose fibers derived from wood pulp and says the wipes are not flushable. Compostable and USDA Biobased claims appear on retailer listings but not on the maker page, so we don't rely on them.
Can you use Earth Rated wipes on a dog's face or ears?
The maker lists face among the uses. It has no eye or ear wipe in our data. Keep any wipe off the eyeball, and see a vet for red, painful or discharging eyes or ears.
Can puppies use Earth Rated wipes?
The maker states a minimum age of 8 weeks. It gives no guidance for younger puppies.
How big are the sheets and how many come in a pack?
The maker lists 8 x 8 inch sheets. The unscented wipe comes in 60 (XL), 100 and 400 counts; the lavender in 100 and 400. A third scent, White Tea & Basil, is not in our data.
